Bumper holiday update

We are back from a great stay at the Belgian seaside with Oma and Opa. Many photos follow below the line.

We played on the beach everyday in all kinds of weather:

And when things got really bad Oma just put the sand inside our little beach house and we played in there:

Amélie was also the only child to have her own private splash pools:

Running around in the ‘mini water’ (Amélie’s description of the shallow tidal pools) was a great favourite:

As was sliding into the big holes dug into the sand by the older children:

Most days Opa took Amélie for a drive in a little car. Amélie’s language was developing daily and this request was put sweetly to Opa as ‘car purple’ as this is her favourite colour but we never did find a purple coloured one…she didn’t seem to mind too much:

But she soon forgot about the cars when we discovered the man with the boats. This daily request came as ‘man purple’ or ‘man bee’ depending on which boat she wanted to go in:

We also visited some of the First World War cemetries nearby, which for Amélie was the perfect place to spot her favourite number, the number ‘NINE’:

Most days ended with a long bath to wash off all the sand and then a story with Oma and Opa (and ‘gobble-gobble’ the turkey):

So with many happy memories we took the train back to London and look forward to seeing the ‘beach’ again soon.

Sounds and looks like you had a great time, but so sorry to hear about your grandma. Will call this week to catch up.

    Love to all the family,
