The Mother and Baby Group

Today Amélie and I went to the local Mother and Baby Group. I really didn’t know what to expect.

Would everyone there already know each other? Would people be easy to talk to? Would the other mothers be yummy mummies in perfect make-up and designer clothes? Would we be the only ones without the much coveted Bugaboo?

What a relief to find just two other new moms who had never been before either. Their babies were 3 and 6 weeks so we had lots in common. It was good to swap stories about breastfeeding, nappy rash, baby poo, the joys of the Peter Jones parenting room and how Dr Harvey Karp’s calming methods really do work. It was also comforting to hear that they too are having detailed conversations with their husbands about the contents of their babies’ nappies and whether or not the baby has burped. I look forward to going again next week.
