In the last few weeks Amélie has discovered her hands.
She has been getting to know them for some time now, tasting them, opening up her fingers and flapping her arms around in a robotic kind of way. But now, suddenly, she likes to grab things and her movements are becoming more controlled. She grabs her bib and puts it into her mouth. She grabs her dummy and pulls it out of her mouth (hasn’t managed to put it back in again but we are working on that). She also likes pulling Nazz’s glasses of his face.
She has become alot more interactive with her playgym and will reach out and hold onto the toys suspended in front of her and will bring them to her mouth to taste them. She can also sit up if we prop her up with enough pillows and likes to reach out for toys in front of her.
At the other end her legs are also getting more of a workout and she is bringing her feet up much higher so that she can now catch sight of her toes. Pretty soon she will realise that these belong to her as well.
She is still gurgling and cooing away at us and practicing new high pitched sounds with her voice. She loves having a ‘conversation’ and will wait her turn to squeal back at you. She has also started chuckling when she smiles, I suppose this is a first step to laughing.
She isn’t quite sleeping through the night yet but we are getting there. On a few rare nights she has slept from 7pm ’till 6am but on most nights she will wake once for a feed. On others she wakes for 2 feeds, these are pretty exhausting. But she is now sleeping in her own cot in her own room. This gives her much more space to stretch out and means that for the first time in four months we can turn the light on in our bedroom in the evenings and read in bed.
She is having more regular naps during the day. I have a great routine going where I prepare her to go for a walk when she is looking tired- as she easily sleeps in the buggy- and by the time I have her bundled into the buggy she is already asleep so I don’t even need to put my coat on!
Meanwhile she weighs 6 kilos and has had her second set of immunisations.

Yes, so once she is all bundled up in her buggy she is in the garage where its cold and we just leave her to sleep there! Its great and she can go for hours.
